The Egg Song
You’ll get to hear the stories straight from the chicken’s mouth as Gertie tells about everything from everyday chores to the Big Stick Monster to Big Chicken Mama and Big Chicken Papa! You’ll also get to learn things about the ‘pecking order’ in the yard and that ‘Brock! Brock! Brock!’ means ‘Yikes!’ in chicken language! Author Joy Mazeikas was inspired to write Egg Song after being a part of the successful petitioning of her city to allow residents to have chickens in the back yard. The stories are based on the real hens she was finally able to have and what she has learned about their amazing thought processes and problem-solving abilities. Her goal is that Egg Song teaches that our Creator intends all life to live in harmony in His Kingdom. People, plants and trees, animals, snakes, bugs, chickensand even the Stick Monstershould come together to flourish
