You’ll also get to learn things about the “pecking order” in the yard and that “Brock! Brock! Brock!” means “Yikes!” in chicken language!

Author Joy Mazeikas Decius was inspired to write The Egg Song after being a part of the successful petitioning of her city to allow residents to have chickens in the back yard. The stories are based on the real hens she was finally able to have and what she learned about their amazing thought process and problem-solving abilities.
